This sound right. This would be the spring for the pressure regulating
diaphram in the top of the fuel pump.
Here at work, we use springs with different diameter wire to make different
pressure regulators with all the rest of the internal components being the
same. A .110" dia. wire gives us a 40 psi regulator, a .115" dia. wire gives
us a 49 psi regulator, and a .120" dia. wire gives us a 58 psi regulator.
