Not too long ago I wrote to the list about a weird problem ( '71 Squareback FI Manuel). The car quit while I was driving and wouldn't start. I thought that there was no fire, so I replaced the coil with a known working one. That didn't work. Checked various connections, cleaned various connections. Still it wouldn't fire up. Eventually I rolled it and popped the clutch; which started it. Well it finally happened again almost a month later. I went out to the car to go school and it wouldn't start. I know the coil is good, recently changed distributer ( added Pertronix). I know its time to adjust the valves. Just wondering if the fuel pump might be the problem because after attempting to crank the car several times there was no real gas smell. (This is the first VW I've owned, so maybe I'm just VW illiterate.) Could this be syptoms of a failing fuel pump? Or maybe a block in the fuel line or filter? Any Help would be greatly appreciated. mike ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
