I think I'll be checking my advance too." Well I chaulk marked my crank with approximate degrees, then with a borrowed tachometer I observed the engine speed. Used the timing light to see my marks for "total" advance. If you see your crank you can see bumps on it this way it is easier to mark your crank. I already forgot how many degrees is one bump but you can calculate by comparing the Degreed part of the crank.
