"Timing light" usually refers to a strobe. The smaller incandescent lights used for various things, including static ignition timing, are usually just called "test lights." > I think I'll be checking my advance too. Always a good idea. This is one of the reasons that I recommend using a "timing light" to set the timing; this way you can test the mechanical advance quickly and easily by just watching the timing mark with the strobe while you speed up the engine. There are many easy ways to test the vacuum advance. I usually just watch the breaker plate while I suck on the hose. If it moves to the end of its travel and doesn't leak down, it's good. Someone here did mention finding an intake vacuum port that was clogged, however. My normal testing would have missed that; I'll have to check those out in the future. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
