I have never seen the type you have described, but I believe you when you say it exists. I HAVE seen the following: In Argentina, near Buenos Aires, 1986: A car that looked somewhat like a type 3, labeled "Brazilia" with a type 3 engine. In Argentina, near Buenos Aires, 1986: A car that looked somewhat like a type 4, labeled "Brazilia" with a type 4 engine. There was also one of these up for auction, with a photo, on eBay about a month ago. In Madison, Wisconsin, USA: A car that looked like a Rabbit (Golf), labeled "Brazilia" but clearly, and surprisingly, built on a type 1 pan with a type 1 engine in the rear. The rest of my contention comes from a friend who lived in Brazil for 5 years and told me that VW do Brazil came out with many models of Brazilias year after year and that they were all some odd combination of Brazilian and German designs. You could well be right about no water-cooled Brazilias, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some. I am surprised that Brazilias were ever marketed outside Brazil, although it is clear that some of them certainly migrated. I really think this is a lot like what many US manufacturers do: reuse the same model name for car after car even when there are no common parts. Like Mustang, Thunderbird, Firebird, Gran Prix.... - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
