Re: [T3] PushButton Starting

On my sisters former car, a 1981 Golf diesel (same ign. switch as my 73 Variant
- theres the T3 content for ya) the "on"-circuit in the starter position of the
switch was gone too (it is obviously very typical on VWs) so some PO wired in a
starter switch that you needed to press while turning the key. This kept the
fuel cutoff solenoid engaged, so the engine started. The fellow that sold the
car to my sister insisted it was supposed to be this way, but I knew better. I
replaced the ign. switch with a new one (removed from a 73 Bug parts car I had
at that time) the next day and it worked flawlessly as long as she had that car.
