hey all. It's late. I'm done messing with my square for the night. I was attempting to dial in my carbs when something strange happened. I have a 69 square with dual solex 32pdsit's that I converted over retaining the stock vaccuum advance distributor. I was attempting to balance my carbs and set the idle speed and adjust the timing because I have a super flat spot as I wind out the engine. Anyway I have a balance tube hooked up and a vaccuum lead off of each carb t'd to the vaccuum advance distributor. The problem occurred when suddenly the left bank (3+4) stopped flowing at idle. I checked for vaccuum leaks with a lit cigarette, checked my gaskets, cranked down manifold bolts etc... No vaccuum leaks! If the cylinder heads were lose I would hear a popping, but I don't. The carbs flow pretty equally when I crack the throttle, but the left side drops off again when returning to idle. I recently rebuilt these carbs before installing them. Is there something I may have overlooked in the rebuild process? I didn't use compressed air as I have in the past, just a can of carb clean with the red plastic nozzle. Is there an Idle circuitwich might be clogged? If so does any one know where it is located? How about the flat spot? Should I advance the timing more, or possibly change distributors? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. laterrrrrr chris cool43whip@aol.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Pitch in!
