I don't remember on the type 3's , but type 1's did not come with any
license brackets. I will have to go out in the morning and look at both of
mine. I know the Sqback had a factory license on the front, but I haven't
paid any attention to the rear on either of them. The Sqback is a '69 and
has the front bracket with the 2 legs, with 3 holes in each leg. to adjust
the height. It was held on with 6mm bolts.

Just went out with a flashlight and looked. Both front brackets are factory
installed. Both rear brackets are dealer installed. The rear ones, are just
a horizontal bar, with 2  1/4 inch holes near the middle, and a couple bends
to get the ends away from the body. The outer ends are slotted to
center/adjust the width of the plate.
BTW, I have never pre-delivered and notchback, as they were never sold in
the USA.
