Hey! I accidently surfed into these pages. Quite useful info if you have distributor woes... and they are promising t3 and t4 content soon! http://www.oldvolkshome.com/ignition.htm http://www.oldvolkshome.com/ovhignbo.htm BTW, Long ago I had a -70 SAAB 99 E (D-jetronic) distributor in my junkpile. I remember it was Bosch, and that it had a Hall sensor for the ignition. Cant remember how the FI was triggered, but I think it had regular FI breaker points just like our cars. Would have been nice if those had been Hall sensors too! The distributor got years ago, so unfortunaly I cannot easily check this up. Looking in the type 2 Bentley manual there is mention of a transistorized ign system used in 79 and later CA busses. These used a Hall effect sensor and a special coil. It looks interesting, but it probably requires a different dist shaft which wouldn't fit in a type 3 dist, and the type 4 dist is probably too tall for our engine compartments. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
