My guess is it is something to do with the drive shafts or > differential- I'm hoping nothing terminal. Check your CV joint bolts and the lug bolts at the wheels. Make sure they are all tight. Grab the axle shafts and yank them hard axially back and forth. They should move but not grind or feel rough. If there is roughness, or if the boots are torn, you should pull out the CV shafts and service them. You might need to replace a CV joint. Note that the CV bolts are NOT Allen bolts; they require a metric spline wrench (XZN) to remove them; the size is 8mm. > Also I've just realised that I've been driving all this time with my ignition > set wrong. If yours is the dual carb engine then someone else need to chime in. In either case you should make sure that both the vacuum and mechanical advance parts of your distributor are working smoothly. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
