If this happened, it can take a bit of running of the fuel pump to get the fuel system primed and full of gas again. Other than that, it is possible that a temp sensor is getting flakey, but I would expect that to have shown up in flaky running earlier. Dirt in the trigger points are a possibility, but they usually bring the car to a halt while driving.
