What were the complains? I have never heard anything but good words on Hella
products, but it can depend on where they are manufactured. Most Hella stuff we
get here are German, and IMHO excellent quality.

Never heard of them, sorry.

Could be. Or not. To tell you the truth, I am doubtful of that statement.

Many people have good things to say about Cibie, but I have no special
expereince with them. They are mostly OE manufacturers, not so big on
aftermarket lights.

Well.... I drive on the stock, 3-piece headlights on my 73. These are stock, but
rusted. I would certainly go for the Bosch, Hella or Cibie but only because I
know those brands firsthand. When I replace them I want these, the ones on top
of page:

They are clear lenses with computer designed reflectors. Fantastic looks and fit
on the three stock mounting tabs on late bugs and type3s!

Not at all. If it did, why would 20+ million German, British, French, Italian,
Spanish and Japanese cars have them? The percentage that the little bulb covers
is minimal, not to mention that the bulb usually sits in the lower half, which
is only used by the high beam.

I dont know if you get these in the US, but what about SWF? They are OEM to
newer VWs, on headlights, taillights, blinkers, wipers etc. Another known brand
is Sylvania. One of the scandinavian FLAPS chains (Biltema) sell H4 7" units for
$10 each, I believe these are Sylvania units.

But anyways, I have driven a lot of different cars the last 9 years, with good
and bad H4 lights or DOT lights, and my experience is that ANY H4 light is
better than a DOT light. I say go for the cheapest you can get first, and if
they turn out bad it is not the greatest expense. Or buy quality immiedeately
and get the Bosch or Cibies.
