    The fan housing appears solidly attached. But I will continue to 
reinspect the area more often for a while to see if any additional problems 
occur.

This may be what I had - Front(FRONT IS FRONT) fanhousing coming loose from
case.
In this case you need to remove pully , fan  and fanhousing retap the holes
in the case and insert screws with locktite.
No small job.
