One thing to remember! Anything you knock loose in the crankcase, has to go
through the factory oil strainer, and the oil pump, before it gets to the
full flow filter. If you plug the factory strainer, you WILL lose oil
pressure.
I can speak from experience with a low milage older Buick V8 that my son
bought. The car had not been driven more that a couple blocks at a time for
about 5 years. When my son got in it to drive it the 40 miles home on the
freeway, He warmed the engine up at highway speeds, and immediately lost oil
pressure due to a plugged oil pickup screen. This took out the bearings and
crankshaft.
