Anything you knock loose in the crankcase, has to go through the factory oil strainer, and the oil pump, before it gets to the full flow filter. If you plug the factory strainer, you WILL lose oil pressure. I can speak from experience with a low milage older Buick V8 that my son bought. The car had not been driven more that a couple blocks at a time for about 5 years. When my son got in it to drive it the 40 miles home on the freeway, He warmed the engine up at highway speeds, and immediately lost oil pressure due to a plugged oil pickup screen.
