There were several different versions of the horn ring, but I think they ALL had the same shape where it mattered and they all interchange. It is more likely that some of the installation hardware is in there wrong or is the wrong hardware. Take it out and take a good look at all the parts, springs, lockwashers, etc and see if they look right. There may just be some ill-fittting part in there, or something installed wrong.
