hey everyone! First off i wanted to thank who ever told me to check the metal gas tank ventilation tubes to see if they had rusted shut. sure enough, the one that went under the drivers side wheel well connecting to the expansion tank was totally clogged. not with rust but black gummy stuff which i would assume was from gas drying in there. so i cleared it out. i checked the other side of the expansion tank to see if the tube going under the car is shut and sure enough it is. so i just unhooked it for now. i guess i will just have gas fumes coming out from under my wheel well for awhile. so with that said i'll move onto my question. i had been having horn trouble's and found that the horn did not have continuity between it's two terminals so the horn was bad. i installed a new horn and still nothing. i grounded the horn on the bumper and beep! i have horn. so i remove the steering wheel and cleaned all of the contact surfaces put everything back together and no horn. so i take the horn ring off again and ground the wire that is connected to the horn ring onto the steering column and beep! i have horn. so here is where my question is. i think that someone replaced the horn ring for what ever reason and did not put the correct horn ring on, because when i push the horn ring it is not able to contact the little brass contact ring on the steering wheel...hence the reason for no horn. the part number on the horn ring is 113 951 531F. is this the correct horn ring for a 71 squareback? it does not seem to fit into the recesses on the steering wheel like it should. i think it's the wrong ring. does anyone have any input on this? does anyone have a steering wheel or horn ring they would sell me? So with that said, i want to say one more thing and i am through. is anyone interested in buying parts from a 69 fi system off of a squareback? i have the brain, wiring harness, intake runners, pressure regulator, intake manifold..ect. the only thing that i am not selling is the distributor and pressure sensor. that's it folks!
