Hello all, My poor (I mean poor, like broke $) brother's squareback has a strange noise coming from inside the case that no one seems to know what it is. Not our dune buggy guru friend, nor the Old VW Master that I work with, so I leave to your collective experience... It's a 64 squareback, single port heads, dual carbs, with a 1500 or 1600 GEX (I know, I know!) rebuild of unknown age. When running, there is a slurping sound in the case, like sucking through a straw at the bottom of a glass. When you pull the oil cap off, it's loud. Someone thought it might be blow-by, but there is no noticeable power or compression loss. There is nothing in the way of the pickup tube and the breather is not clogged.
