Hi Herman, Having owned a T1 Ghia (two actually) in the past I know that the notches you are refering to are for the different body styles of the T1's. Using the different notches gives you a different steering box angle in relation to the front axel. So as you suspect the 31/34 DO NOT refer to the T3's, (IIRC the 34 is for the angle necessary for a T1 Ghia). I checked the Bentley, there is a reference which says to use notch 31, (at least for the Fasty, and the Square), (see chapter 7 page 33 upper right paragraph). Good Luck!!
