I decided my 2 1/2" play was too much and finally got round to changing the steering box - it is the source of play. 1. But, how do you disconnect the tie rods from the steering arm - I don't have VW tool #....? 2.The mounting clamp has two marks: 31 and 34 , having a T34 I would place that sides groove in the notch .(no pun intended). But, the box I'm putting in is a later type - 311415131B and on it there is also the same markings, but no groove on the T34 side. Should I place this mounting bracket with the 34 side towards the notch, even though it is totally different from the one I'm replacing ?
