If your tires are in good shape (no sidewall cracks) and plenty of thread, there is nothing wrong with installing them on the alloys. Just be sure that the alloys are not too wide, 165 tires are no good on wheels wider than 5.5". I have 165 Vredestein winter tires on 5.5" rims on my car, they are much stiffer than on stock rims (had the tires on stock rims earlier) and gives nice curve handling (my car is dropped ~3").
