I really hate to say it and some disagree to an extent but its just a matter of Physics. The light goes on when you have practically NO oil pressure, no matter what the spec says, Some are a little higher than others but your engine has almost no pressure with it on. Its shot.. weather your bearings are just worn out or ground out, or you bearing saddles are pounded out the problem is terminal. You can use thicker oil or raise the idle but this just holds things off a little more. Now for the good things... they can go along way this way if treated properly, especially in the cold winter but I wouldnt call it reliable anymore.
