I have to concur with Keith, when the light flickers, the engine is getting close to rebuild or replacement time. I played the patch-it-up game on my original engine for a year or so, but finally the light went on and stayed on no matter what I did. At that point I'd replaced the pressure switch, had gone to an over-strength relief valve spring, was running 30 weight oil and could still only get 1-2 lbs on the pressure guage at the cooler at 1200 rpm. When I tore it down, the case was on 4th oversize bearings and had been badly treated. On the other hand, the compression was still in the 90-100 lbs range. Eventually, you'll get to the point where you'll have no oil pressure and the mains are liable to sieze. Best to start saving now for the inevitable rebuild or replacement. If you stop now while it's still running, you might be able to salvage some parts, otherwise you'll be looking at a crank regrind if nothing else. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
