[T3] a breakthrough.....maybe.....

thanks for all the help on the valve setting stuff...unfortunately i just
read all that and have just come in from trying to do them myself!!!
so what your saying is that the rotor only turns in 90 degree increments?
well then i'm wrong. i misinterpreted muir.
now my timing marks look like this.... | |||
according to muir the first one is TDC. i lined that up and #1 was right
on. but according to him, #2 is at "the first notch of the 3".
so i should rotate 180 on the crank, or 90 on the distributor for #2?
on my pulley there's no marks 180 degrees from TDC, but i did notice
a flat spot on the teeth where there could have been some marks.
so what's the most accurate way to line it up? on the pulley or on the
distributor?

so anyway my valves aren't adjusted too well right now. #1 and #3 came out
perfect, but on #2 and #4 the intake valve would not adjust.

and guess what i found, which might be the source to my magical noise i've
been hearing!!!

when i took the valve cover off the left side, i found the adjusting screw
and lock nut for the #4 intake valve laying in the cover!! the rocker was
just flapping there by itself. i put it back on. it wouldn't adjust though,
no doubt due to fact that i'm not adjusting them right!!!

thanks a bunch....

mark.
