I installed carbs on it today from my 73 and it ran great! No problems other than the spark plugs needing replaced but, Hey it hasnt been driven since 1993 so i cant complain. Fired right up and drove it about a half of a mile. But i am having one problem that I cant figure out and that is... It shifts normally from first to second but from second gear thats it! I took it upto 40mph in second and it wouldnt go into third for anything. I tried Neutral and putting it back into D and so on and there was no hope for her, it just wouldnt kick into third gear. The fluid looked cleaned but could probably use a flushing after sitting for Six+ years. And its gonna get a oil change to #1 Can anyone (hoppfully more than one person) tell me what to do? Look for? Is there (Micro)switches or something ,maybe??? since i took the FI off. This is all new to me. I had many stick VW's but this is my first auto. And it even has power in first and second gear. #2 What type of Auto Tranny Fluid should i use when i flush it and do you all think its ok not to drop the pan? (Sometimes in other autos other than VW's theres screens and filters in there).
