I have had good luck with the F/S adjustment. It is also important to get the old bearings clean and to lubricate them with some proper clock oil. Don't bother with anthing that sprays: It will just get in where it will cause you trouble. I use a sewing needle dipped in clock oil to carry a tiny drop to the right place and leave it.
