I have a 73 Square, there is NO strap to grab the rear cushion, the rear cushion is NOT locked down, the rear back is only locked in place when the rear cushion is in place (not up) I just lift the cushion by inserting my hand between the cushion and back, and lift it up. Is no grab strap, has never been! Then, I just pull the top of the seat back towards the front of the car, and it lays down flat and easy. Or, maybe you got some US DOT regulations, that says that the seat needs to be locked by some levers and latches? Anyway, mine is totally different.
