I feel a little silly asking this, but... We have the Pertronix electronic ignition on our '71 Squareback (with stock f/i) and I'm in the process of doing a bit of a tune up. I have a new cap and rotor and was going to replace both this morning, but the rotor in the car has the ring around it for the Pertronix unit. I don't have the instructions handy (but I will find them!), so how do I deal with the 'ring' and .ĦQ rotor? Will it come off easily? Will it only go on in one position? Will I have to re-time the engine once I make this swap? For now I installed the new cap, but left the old rotor since I needed to drive the car to work.
