Take the spark plug out of #1 cyl, then roll the engine over to TDC, then using the back of a pen, stick it thru the spark plug hole and feel the top of the piston. Rock the engine back and forth to move the piston up and down to find where it falls at the topmost position of its stroke. Then check to make sure both valves are closed (to make sure you're not at the end of the exhaust stroke instead of TDC). This is where you should set up your timing marks on the pully at 0. Then take the dist and orient it so that the rotor is touching the #1 plugwire on the cap. With a good set of points and condenser, new rotor and cap, the engine should fire. This is assuming you've gone thru the test procedures for the FI to make sure it is delivering fuel. If it still doesnt fire, check spark and make sure the coil is good. At 0 degrees the engine will run, then you can fiddle with the timing to get the best performance. I however do recommend a strobe type timing light and tach combo. They make life a lot easier! good luck! dan ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
