I have been reading John Muir's book. It's very nice, wish there was something similar for my Volvo. I'm interested in what you guó{èo about his warming up advice. He says to leave the engine a short time to warm up before driving off. Everything else I ever read said that you should drive off right away to make sure the oil is distributed properly by bearings which are under load. I'm prepared to think different for a VW engine. A friend of my mum had a type 4 wagon which had a self timer and could start itself in the morning. Perhaps that wasn't as daft as I thought... although illegal on the road here. aedan 1971 VW fastback 1989 Volvo 240GL Our enemies shall talk themselves to death, and we will bury them with own confusion.
