Here's a little FYI for Norwegian car prices from an American point of view. I don't doubt that the cost of parts are that expensive, expecially since a typical family car can run about $60k (ie, a Honda Civic, base model). Hey, Per, am I in the ball park? What's the tax rate for automobiles up in Norway?
