Oversized sumps are for racing only. They are just a hazard on street 
cars. They allow the engine to continue to get lubrication all the 
way through long sweeping high speed turns where the standa3š+
may slosh all its oil into the rocker boxes. I realize they are sexy, 
but you are very lucky that you didn't rip the bottom out of your 
case.

What bent? I don't see what you could have bent that would require an 
adjustment of the cable. Don't you have the outer cable housing where 
the cable passes to the left of the transmission?
