They are just a hazard on street cars. They allow the engine to continue to get lubrication all the way through long sweeping high speed turns where the standa3ลก+ may slosh all its oil into the rocker boxes. I don't see what you could have bent that would require an adjustment of the cable. Don't you have the outer cable housing where the cable passes to the left of the transmission?
