Re: [T3] Steerng Column Replacement

Jim,

Thanks for the reply. The ignition switch is the main problem on my old
column. I couldn't get the key to turn. When I removed the switch from the
column, I found that the small white plastic cap at the rear of the switch
appeared melted. When I removed this plastic cap I could get the key to
turn normally (w/ switch removed from column). When I re-installed cap to
switch, again the key would not turn.

This and the fact that there is an aftermarket steering wheel on the
column and whoever installed it mutilated the horn setup (no wire, button,
or anything else.) I bought the additional Fasty strictly for parts and
this is my first step. I'll be many asking MANY questions in the near
future.

It's in the front axle/suspension/steering chapter.

Exactly what is bad on your old column? It is probably easier not to
replace everything since they don't all come out together. Be
especially careful with both turnsignal and ignition switches. They
are valuable.
