Don't really know how serious you were, but I figured I'd give what advice I can. The *ONLY*, read: *OONNLLYY* computers that *could* be effected, are the ones that make some calculation for date. Everybody's in a panic that airplanes will fall out of the sky, etc., etc. Airplanes will almost guaranteed, *NOT* fall out of the sky. 屨) all very nice new machines, or have been updated. Quite the contrary, actually. They probably won't be able to see the *GROUND*, especially at the smaller airports across the globe. The stock exchange, banks, nuclear generating stations; things like this will likely have problems, as their systems are old main-frame types. Possibly things like fridges, pacemakers, things like that, but you should check with the manufacturer of these things to check to see if they have a date calculator. The T3 *MIGHT*, maybe, on it's best day, calculate the date on some chip. Very, very, very, very doubtful, though. PC's that have been made in the last 2 or so years are probably safe, too. The ISP's mainframes could be at risk though. Hard to really say what the global effects will be. Could be really bad, could be completely insignificant. I will be ready to drive to the hills in my FI T3, though, and I anticipate it working. > -----Original Message----- > From: John Clift [mailto:jclift@deans.umd.edu] > Sent: Wednesday, January 20, 1999 11:55 AM > To: type3@vwtype3.org > Subject: [T3] Y2KVWT3 > > > Hello, Any thought or reason to panic when january 1, 2000 > rolls around > and our computers in our T-3's dont work? > Or do I just not enough to do today? > John 71 FI Fastback > > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org >
