I don't think a 6v flywheel has an o-ring seal, but it might be getting loose and allowing oil onto the clutch. The problems you describe are exactly what happened on my '71 on a long trip when the flywheel o-ring failed to keep oil where it belonged. $70-90 should get you all the parts you need to get it changed out. It's a weekend fix if you can find a machine shop to resurface your flywheel. That ran about $30 the last time I had it done. If your tranny is bad, swap it at the same time.
