Sounds like you've got the problem pretty well localized.
Well, I once had some odd sounds in the rear, turned out it was the
rear hub nut on the passenger side that had gotten loose.  The hub was
shucking ba8orth.  Check those out first.  It's a good thing
you've got it off the road, some folks would just turn up the radio.
I've not experienced it yet, but I've read that CV joints start to
click when they've reached the end of the road.  Just another
possibility you might want to check.  Always a good thing to check out
the condition of the boots, anyway.
