Another woe in this arena that I suffered for the first time this winter -
of course related to the weather - was the tubes freezing. At first, they
were clogged with some leaves, which allowed water to back up in them. Then
the water frooze. I noticed this because the rubber hoses themselves were
white one morning and hard as rocks. The end result was a split hose once
the weather climbed above zero Celsius. It is paramount to keep the air
boxes and hoses clean.

I uh, one other point about this. Has anyone (who owns a pre-1970 model)
ever opened the fresh air vents? I haven't, eventhough the temperature here
in the swamps of Fenno-Scandia actually do get above 25C in the summer time
(really, it does). To be honest, I am not completely sure how to open them!
Anyway, the best A/C for me seems to be opening both wing or vent windows
and turning them to the forward direction. With the pop-outs open, it is
easy to get a nice breeze through the cabin and cool off.

I can't wait until those days are upon us again ... after four months of
snow, I could use some sun.
