I'll just march down and measure one. Oh? I see it is a 17mm. Well maybe I was wrong about that.... > The adapter I mentioned for very early ones is on page 85 in the > parts illustrations (B48 in parts book), part 14, no. 311 857 761; > M24 x 1.5 to 7/16" adaptor. Now I measure the diameter and it is, What? 11mm??? What an ODD (odd??) diameter for a metric bolt?? Wait, 11mm = 7/16", huh??? What's the pitch? 20 tpi??? NO S**T Sherlock! An OE English thread defiling my VW! It's almost enough to want to sell out and move on. And up to this point I had just thought your musings were the lunatic ravings of a Limey what's been out in the l†¬long without his Gin & Tonic. ;-) > Subject: RE: [T3] '66 seat belts > > 19mm is almost exactly 3/4" so this is just .020 less. > The correct wrench for these bolts is 19mm (or 3/4".) Well, I still think a 3/4 or 19mm wrench should work here. A 64th under would be better, but who has a 47/64" wrench? If that 18.5mm bolt has a 24mm thread behind it, then that is one heck of a strange bolt.
