Sorry Jim, I can't agree with you. The original fit bolts are not a true metric size. If you get a rusted one, it's very difficult to remove it without wrecking the bolt head. Most of the aftermarket kits I've used, and current VW belts, have 17mm-head metric bolts, but the thread is the same (M12 x 1.5 maybe?). The adapter I mentioned for very early ones is on page 85 in the parts illustrations (B48 in parts book), part 14, no. 311 857 761; M24 x 1.5 to 7/16" adaptor. Dave.
