You're in luck. The reverse lockout is built into the base of the shift lever. Pull up your carpet, unscrew the knob, pull off the rubber boot, and unbolt theshift plate. Take a look at what you find. If you need a part, I and probably many others here will have one, or I think a beetle part from a junkyard is the same.
