eather rubber clamps are fine but the bolts MUST be torqued to get the right crush on the rubber. This is a common problem with caster, you lower arm is probably bent, they are fragile, is the bar in the exact center of the arm where it emerges in the beam?? this is how you tell. You can use caster shims, around 6mm but dont hold me to it. try an alignment shop that specilazes in VW's or foreign cars, I ahve gone through MANY an alignment shop over the years, INCLUDING A VW DEALER< and not been happy. Lastly your framehead may be bent, but lets not think that way!! If you knock the caster down on the other side, if the camber adjsutment allows it, you will pull less but the car will wander more and have more bump st攩l despite what they say YES! it will wear out the front tire on the inside edge if the caster is mismatched.
