Yep Toby, the gas heater sure produces a lot of cosy, warm air. A little drawback is that it produces quite a lot of fan noice, too. But I rather get warmed than having a frozen, silent ride. Even trips in -25 C is no problem with the heater working. Best of all - when everything is works as it supposed to, you can leave it running when parked, and enter a VERY warm cabin, heading home from the grocery store! Even with J-tubes, I still think I would like to have some device that pumps fresh (preferably warmed) air to the defrosters. The factory installed gas heaters have recirculation tubes to pump around the same cabin air over and over again, so it won't help much against steamy windows...But as the customizing maniac you are, I'm sure you will come up w½ŸÊv thing clever! ;-) /Karl-Olov Sandin P.S. I managed to get my late BN2 heater running again, following the BN4 manual at the link: http://www.conservatory.com/vw/manuals_nyx/EberBN4.html, as you pointed out. Thanks for the tip. I also got hold of a circuit diagram for the "universal" BN2 heater, and that seems to be accurate for the VW model, too. Good luck! Just be careful with preventing unwanted gas and exhaust leakage! > -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- > FrŒn: Erkson, Toby [SMTP:toby.erkson@intel.com] > Skickat: den 9 februari 1999 17.56 > Till: type3@vwtype3.org > €mne: RE: [T3] Parting 71 Fast (rusted out) > > Being of very low body fat and generally driving by myself I found the > heating system insufficient for me.
