It's hard to give it a good test this way because you can't develop a very good vacuum in there that way. The best way is to use a piece of small hose to connect to it and suck on the0NlÍnd. If you can't develop a vacuum that means there is a leak. If you can develop a vacuum (and cause the breaker plate to move) then you should be able to stick your tongue on the end of the hose and see if it leaks up and returns or holds vacuum and it position. A big leak means it is doing nothing. No leak means it is working fine. Itmay still be working in spite of a small leak, but I have always assumed that this would get slowly worse and should eventually be replaced. Use your own judgment.
