So saturday is a good warmish day and I have a terrible cold but I'm all set to go and just se凝HV missing from my automatic air cooling sytem. Easy enough. Just pull the tin off the right cylinder bank. No such luck. The damn bolt at the FRONT (FIF) Right of the bank is frozen. Totally frozen. 45 minutes, a mountain of patience aand a pint of liquid wrench later, not even a budge. I can see from below that the bolt appears to be rusted straight up through the threads on one side. This is not a good start to my VW spring. Anyway, I suppose I'm going to have to torch this thing off, right? I've never done this and I dont like the idea of open flame so near my carbs, fuel lines, etc. Looking for advice; how hard is this? What kind of torch do I need? Is this something I can do myself? Will I be torching from above or below? Please give lots of details. All this for a stupid bolt.
