[T3] Distributor Shield? (Was: FastvsSquarevsNotchvsGhia)

I think the real question is exactly how old you were when you were kissin'
the 15 y/o in your fasty! :-) I'm just kidding ('cuz I know already) but I
just love it when people set themselves up like that...I just can't resist
the opportunity!

T-minus 14 days until I'm back in the DC area for good, and able to tackle
the water leakage problems in my newly restored 73 fasty. Another listee,
and good friend of mine, has graciously offered me a spare FI distributor,
so I can test to see if my intermittent spark ground has something to do
with the distributor.

BTW, I know that some of the type I distributors have a plastic shield that
slides over the dist. shaft before you put the rotor on...I guess it
protects the innards of the µ ‡$om debris or whatever. The dist. in my
73 fasty has no such shield. It also has a problem with an intermittently
grounding spark going to one or more of the cylinders, making the car feel
like it's missing a cylinder at times. Am I missing an important part
(namely this plastic shield)? Just for reference, we're talking a bone
stock (well, engine wise, heh heh) 73 fastback.

Many thanks in advance!

-Doug

Plus, 7 years ago I kissed this beautiful 15 year old girl for the first
time after our first date in my first car, a Clemintine Orange 1972
fasty.....and she being all pregnant with our 2nd kid and all, I feel
the need to be sentimental.
