for the most part the engines cases are the same ( the 71 should however have dual oil pressure relief's, but that will not make any difference in the swap) the only difference that may make a difference in using the 71 engine in your car is if the 71 engine is from an automatic or not..... if it is not you will have to look at your old engine ( your car is an automatic) the engine from it should have a notch cut out (from factory like that) at the lower front at the bell housing area, this notch allows for the unbolting of the torque converter.
