I have a '69 fuel-injected Squareback, I've removed the original engine (due to unknown failure -- to be determined upon disassembly) and installed a '71 f.i. engine (upon the recommendation of my father). Of course, the f.i. wiring is different, so I'll have to strip this off the '71 & transfer the original sensors & (to be safe) all of the other f.i. components from the '69. Prior to removing the '69 engine, the fuel-injector units & hoses were replaced, so I know they're good & will be putting new seals on them yet again. My question is this: are the '69 & '71 engine cases the same and, if so, are they the same displacement (barrels) and do they use identical heads? I was told that the two cases were the same for these years by a rep at Mofoco, where I had intended to purchase an engine before deciding to try a little more work on the two engines I currently have. I have so little time right now, but it's looking like I'll have more time very soon, so I'm commiting more time to getting the used engine I have running before looking to a new engine quite yet. Thanks for the help on this small detail. Later! Aaron >:) > VWT3 '69س auto f.i. 'Betty' ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
