First get a copy of the Bentley manual, then check to make sure that all the tuneup adjustments are correct: dwell, timing, valve lash, idle speed, spark plugs. I suggest that you keep an accurate log of your fuel consumption and gas mileage so you can tell us how your car is doing. This is a valuable diagnositic too, and it is free!
