i have just about had it! i went out, checked top dead center, which still seems to be the second mark from the left, pencil in the #1 spark plug hole and every thing, set the distributor where the light just comes on, i tried turning it farther, but am limited by the condensor on one side and the little black plug on the other, they hit the fuel pump and trap the distributor in this small range of movement.. btw my marks arent like this I I I I like jim talked about , they are more like this I I I I, with the second being where i find top dead center. when i time it there it barely starts, idles at 400rpm and runs really bad. like i said i can adjust it by earand it seems to run and idle much better. in this situation Muir says to take it to vw and let them doit. i just don't know any more brandon ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
