Re: [T3] Weather, Brakes, and Wiring........

In a message dated 98-09-22 02:24:19 EDT, you write:

<< Is replacing the line easy or hard to do?. Ie
should/could I do it myself (Please note: I can't weld if welding is needed)
 or get it professionally done.>>

I've had to do the same thing in my '71 squareback. The hardest part of the
job for me was trying to bend the new piece of tubing to match the original
without putting a kink in the tube. (Wrapping the tube around my 36mm socket
seemed to do the job OK.)

<< Ie can I just pull the tub out throught he
front of the car of does it need to be cut somewhere? >>

If there is a fitting between the point where the tube comes in through the
front and the front seat somewhere you should be able to disconnect it there
and pull it out. If not then you will have to cut it. What I did was to
disconnect it at the fitting and then cut the fitting off to get it past the
pedal assembly, then use a compression fitting to connect the two pieces back
together again after the new tube was installed. (I'm not familiar with the
RHD set-up so you may have to adjust your steps accordingly.)
You should be able to get the new tube and compression fittings at your local
parts store, just make sure to bring in the old pieces so they can be matched
up.

Hope this helps.
